I have encountered this problem and I know you too. In the beginning I’m very confused in what to use for my dogs since there vast amount products scattered around both online and offline.  Plastic  or  Wire  Crates? I have found out that the answer to this problem really relies on you. The below article is just an overview in the pros and cons of both crates.     * Free viewing outside can cause them to whine or bark as they relate themselves on what is happening outside

    * Not airline approved

    * Not properly insulated not good for cold weathers

    * Heavier than plastic crates

Advantages of Large Plastic Dog Crates:

    * Most of them are airline approved

    * Provide better insulation ideal for cold weathers

    * Quite close offering privacy thus avoiding the whining and barking of your buddy

    * Lighter than wire crates

Disadvantages of plastic dog crates:

    * Plastic can cause smelly odors over time and worse it is hard to remove.

    * Harder to clean compared to wire crates

    * Cannot be folded, not ideal for storage.

    * Lesser ventilation compared to wire crates

So now you will ask which is suitable for you. The answer to that is only you can provide. After reading thru the post I know that you have pretty good idea in what to use.
